Airplanes and Dinner…

Earlier this week, Ryan had a long layover in Houston, which provided us with a chance to visit with him for a few hours. The timing of it all was perfect. After nap time, I put the kids in the car and drove to the airport. As we got closer, Levi’s excitement kept building; especially when he started to see all the planes. As we waited for Ryan to come out to meet us, we were able to drive around the airport a few times. Levi’s was so excited! He would say, Mommy! Mommy! Look! Airplane! Airplanes!! WOW!When we drove back around to pick Ryan up, Levi was grinning from ear to ear.

We took a quick trip through the Sonic drive through to pick up dinner. Then, Ryan drove us to an observation lot that’s located at the end of one of the runaways. The planes fly right over you to land. It’s awesome. They’re so big and so close. Just as they fly over, you turn to follow them and watch them land. Awesome. The roar of their engines to the skidding of their tires…all amazing!

Levi announced the arrival of each plane. He was great at spotting them off in the distance. The planes were spaced out by 3 or 4 minutes. So, there was a lot to watch. He did a great job at informing us.

This is what Levi did in-between planes…

Taking pictures was a bit challenging for me. I had trouble keeping up with the planes in the sky. However, I will say I loved pilotdadandlevi2watching them too. It amazes me that something so large can get  off the ground and look so graceful/effortless in the sky!  Plus, I’m extra proud to say that my husband is a Pilot and knows how to operate one of those birds…amazing!! He’s so smart and a great pilot!

And you might be wondering…where’s Shelby? What was she doing during all this time?… hanging out in the car playing with her feet of course.
